Police Blotter: Suspect of Golden Garden attack tries to make a run for it; burglars at large

9:16 a.m. on January 23rd. 82nd block of Seaview Place N.W.
On Sunday morning, a man was tackled and attacked by another man in the overflow parking lot of Golden Gardens. While wrestled on the ground the suspect than continued to beat the man on the head with a large rock. An onlooker grabbed the suspect off the victim. A witness stated that after two or three blows to the face the victim was confused.
911 was dialed and Seattle Fire, SPD and an AMR ambulance all rushed to the scene.
"I was losing it and thought he was going to kill me," the victim stated while in the back of an ambulance. The suspect was caught and identified and the victim said he had had no previous contact with the suspect.
The victim was transported to Swedish Hospital for medical attention.
The suspect was transported to the north precinct holding cell where he tried to make a run for it. As the police officer was preparing to close the door, the suspect ran towards the open door. The officer attempted to close the door but the suspect ran into the door with his left shoulder and forced it open. The officer yelled for help and managed to catch the suspect, handcuff him and with assistance, moved him back into the holding cell.
The suspect was booked into the King County jail for Investigation of Assault.
7:15 p.m. on January 24th. 70th block of 10th Avenue N.W.
A woman arrived home at the perfect time on Monday, half an hour later and her house would have been burglarized.
The victim arrived home just after an unknown suspect wearing dark hoodie had kicked in the rear door to her house.
The suspect had broken out the West side window to the residence locked porch, reached through the window and unlocked the three locks to the door.
Once inside the enclosed porch the suspect kicked in the West
side rear door. He would have entered if the victim hadn’t come home right at that moment.
She caught a glimpse of the burglar as he was escaping though her neighbor’s yard.
The victim checked her house and did not discover anything missing or disturbed. Officers were unable to locate fingerprints and no suspects were located.
1:32 a.m. on January 23rd. 14th block of N.W. 52nd St
A maintenance manager was called to his work by an alarm company on Sunday morning and once on the scene, the manager noticed an open window and called 911.
Police officers, with assistance of K9, checked the building and found that while empty, it was apparent somebody had been inside.
An employee noticed that the files in the building had been rifled through but at the time, had no way of knowing if anything had been removed.
9 a.m. on January 25th. 51st block of 9th Avenue N.W.
A victim said her TV was stolen a second time, three months after having it replaced after a previous theft.
The previous TV was stolen in the second half of 2010 and replaced in October.
The victim stated the suspect is a drug addict who steals to support his drug habit.
On Tuesday morning, the unknown suspect entered the victim’s apartment through the sliding door. The suspect picked up butter knife, leaving fingerprints on the handle. The suspect then kicked in the victims bedroom door, removed the TV and fled the home.
5 a.m. on January 25th. 6th block of N.W. Bright St.
Police was dispatched to a school burglary early Tuesday morning.
The complainant stated she’d left the school building early on Monday while staff was still in the building. When she arrived to work on Tuesday she did not notice anything out of place or damaged.
When another employee arrived at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the employee noted that some miscellaneous change was gone and then noticed that the drawers to a small black filing cabinet had been forced open.
In looking around the office area, the complainant found that a locked drawer to her desk had been forced open also. She stated that there was only $30.00 in cash with this deposit but $14,525.65 worth of checks.
Nothing else seemed to have been disturbed in the office area.
The complainant stated that at the end of November, 2010, there had been a similar type of incident where someone had taken a deposit from the front desk area. At that time the school did not call 911 to report it.
The complainant states that at the previous theft, $1,500.00 was taken, half in cash and the other half in checks.
The complainant said she’d been calling the people who had written checks to advise them that the deposit had been stolen and that they should contact their banks.
10 p.m. on January 23rd. 81st block of Greenwood Avenue N.
Police were dispatched to a restaurant on 81st block of Greenwood Ave N where the owner came in after hours on Saturday to discover that the business had been broken into.
The back door was broken in and the doorjamb was split by the lock plates. The register was open but it had been empty. The content of the front desk had been riffled through but nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report.
8 p.m. on January 24th. 83rd block of Greenwood Avenue N.
A uniformed officer responded to a burglary call for a business on 83rd block of Greenwood Ave. An employee had arrived to work to find a broken window
in the rear of the business and the back door which leads to a separate
basement apartment had been broken open.
Police noted that a two-inch round rock was used to break the glass of the window. A set of muddy shoe prints lead from the window to the area of
a small safe under the front counter. Pry marks were seen on the safe and a
large bent kitchen knife lay beside it.
An unknown amount of cash was taken from the safe and there were several loose coins strewn on the floor.
The basement apartment door frame was heavily damaged and left open.
Personal items were scattered across the floor of the apartment. The resident was out of town at the time of the report and it was unknown what all was missing.
