Charges filed in double stabbing
A SeaTac woman has been charged with assault following a brutal knife attack that left another woman clinging to life. Jan. 21, Fale V. Pe'a was hosting a party at her SeaTac apartment where many of the attendees were men who live as women. 911 operators began receiving reports of a group of women fighting in the apartment complex parking lot. Emergency operators received a call that someone there had been stabbed. Deputies found a critically injured woman standing topless and "covered from head to toe" with her own blood. Another bloodied woman was found nearby. Pe'a was found face down on the floor of another apartment.
Unsure whether Pe'a was a victim or the assailant, a deputy attempted to roll her over to examine her for injuries. When they did this, Pe'a jumped to her feet and lunged toward the other occupants inside the apartment. Pe'a then kicked a deputy, striking him on the left ear. King County Sheriff's Detective Christopher Johnson said Pe'a later admitted to stabbing the woman during an interview following her arrest. Witnesses said Pe'a stabbed the woman's neck, and then delivered a "center punch" to the woman's chest. The woman suffered stab wounds to her chest, neck and face, amounting to eight cuts in all. Pe'a has been charged with one count of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault. She remains jailed.
Five years later: Nicole Pietz homicide remains unsolved
Sunday, Feb. 6th marked the fifth anniversary of the day the body of Nicole Pietz was found near Des Moines Memorial Drive and South 144th Street in a wooded area. She was the victim of a homicide and the case remains unsolved.
Pietz was last seen by her husband in their Lynwood condo on Jan. 28, 2006. Her car was found in the University District of Seattle about two weeks later.
There remains a $36,000 reward in the case. In addition, Pietz's mother has said the family will pay the legal costs of anyone who comes forward with information germane to the case, but wishes to use the services of an attorney.
The King County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is still investigating the case, and would like anyone with information to call 206-296-3311 with information.
Car chase ends with shots fired
A State Patrol Trooper opened fire on a suspected car thief after he tried to run over the trooper after leading police on a high-speed chase down I-5. The chase began in Burien Feb. 2, after a King County Sheriff's deputy received a signal from an anti theft device that a BMW had been stolen. The deputy last saw the car heading east on SR-518. Several police agencies responded and a high-speed chase ensued when the car was spotted on I-5 near Federal Way.
The thief exited the freeway in Fife and car-jacked a driver of a red Honda. At that point multiple witnesses report the thief drove at a female trooper on a motorcycle two separate times. After the first attempt, the trooper abandoned her bike and was on foot, the patrol said. The thief came at her a second time, at which point she fired shots. The thief sped off again but only made it about 1/2 mile before crashing the Honda into a tree near the 3900 block of 20th Street East, just outside the Costco parking lot. But, even then, he didn't want to give up and had to be tased, according to officers.
