West Central District 3A
Kennedy Catholic captured third place and Highline fifth at Saturday's 3A meet held at Auburn-Mountainview. The Lancers scored 140.05 points as a team and the Pirates tallied 138.435.
Mia Alvarez of Highline led the local finishers, taking second in the all-around competition with 36.1 points.
Alvarez took second in the vault (9.55) and bars (8.3) and she placed third in the beam (8.85) and bars (8.3).
Wrestling
Region II 3A
Highline came in second with 136.5 points and Kennedy Catholic third with 122 at Saturday's meet held in the JFK gym.
Brandon Gilbertson of Highline took first at 112 pounds with an 18-3 championship win and Cody Wadliegh was second at 125 pounds with a 10-3 loss in the final.
Pat Legate of Highline was second in the 145 with a 13-4 loss and Nick Armitage of Kennedy came in first at 160 pounds with a 4-3 win. Teammate Bruce Adsero was first at 171 pounds with a 14-9 win over Josh Condrad of Highline. JFK's Cole Mackey was second at 215 pounds and Paul Toala of Highline was second at 285 with an 11-6 loss.
Mount Rainier
Mount Rainier placed 10th in 4A tournament action Friday with 48 points. A.J. Atoigue won the 140-pound title with a 9-5 win over Josh Smith of Kent-Meridian.
Girls wrestling
Region II 3A
Highline won in girls tournament action with 141 points to the 101 of Federal Way. Emily Birdseye beat Highline teammate Diana Prudente, 9-4 at 125 pounds and Nicole Maipi of Highline placed second at 160 pounds. Jamila Culcleasure was first for Highline at 285 pounds with a win by pin in 3:18.

The Bulldogs took a loss in 2A action Saturday. Shantell Jackson hit 16 points and Destiny Beasley backed her up with 15.
