From the 8400 block of Delridge Way s.w., a woman called policed at 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 to report her apartment had been ransacked. When officers arrived she immediately said, “the people upstairs did this” and explained her keys had disappeared from the communal laundry room two days prior. She said the upstairs neighbors are crack dealers and she has repeatedly complained to the apartment manager and Seattle Police Department Narcotics Section, at this point to no avail. There was no sign of forced entry and the investigation is ongoing.
Across the Duwamish on March 2, a man came home after a quick errand (around 11:15 a.m.) on the 10400 block of 56th Ave s. to find a young Asian male standing in his driveway holding one of his TVs. He got out of his car and verbally confronted the burglary suspect. The suspect set the television down (in apparent reverence for the gentle handling of electronics) and ran across the street to join a crew of three more young Asian males (18 – 20 years old, black clothing and black backpacks) before they all ran. Although the TV was saved, the suspects’ backpacks were full and the every room of the house was pillaged. The suspects were not apprehended.
From downtown on March 1, a man walked out of a convenience store on the corner of 8th and Pike at 6 p.m. after withdrawing $75 from an ATM and was quickly bounced by three suspects (two men and one woman) who kicked and punched him while rummaging through his belongings. As if getting hit in the head with a bottle of tequila isn’t bad enough, the female assailant screamed, “This is AIDS!” as she shoved the bottle into his face (but did not actually strike him with). Police received a 911 call and the suspects were seen getting onto a metro bus. They were quickly rounded up and arrested for investigation of robbery. The victim got his $75 and Nokia phone back.
It was late February shortly before 5 p.m. near 12th Ave and e. Howell St when a woman walking alone down the street noticed two black females following her. As she continued along she heard running behind her and the “heavy set” suspect grabbed her purse. The victim stood her ground and pulled back on the pursed while the heavy set suspect repeatedly punched her in the face with her free hand. Meanwhile, the second suspect (slim, early 20s with a blue lip stud) pulled out a can of pepper spray, pointed it at the victim’s face and threatened to spray her if she didn’t give up the purse. The victim let go and the suspects fled on foot. Later that day the victim found her purse lying in a parking lot nearby, all of its contents accounted for and intact.
