Taxi driver held at knife point by Des Moines man
A man got into a cab in Mukilteo and asked the driver, Daniel Negasi, to drive him to his Des Moines home. About 15 minutes into the 40-mile drive, Negasi found out the passenger only had $11 to cover the $100 trip. The driver asked for $50 and the passenger allegedly snapped, pulling out a knife. The man put the knife to Negasi's throat and the other on his head pinning him. The driver pleaded with his attacker to let him go unharmed. They hit a construction area and traffic slowed in the southbound lanes of I-5. Negasi hit the brakes and the knife bounced away from his throat. Negasi got out of the cab, as did his attacker, who bolted down the highway only to be arrested later. Glade King is being held for investigation of attempted robbery in the incident. A friend of the accused said King is not a violent man and he was drunk when his friends put him in the cab. He is the sole caretaker of his 85-year-old mother.

Second trial in '96 disappearance of Burien man
The second trial for a Texas man accused of killing a Burien man more than 15 years ago is scheduled to begin Monday, March 14 at the King County Courthouse.
Myron Wynn's first trial ended in a mistrial on Dec. 21 when jurors announced they were hopelessly deadlocked after deliberating for about three days. In January, King County prosecutors said they would retry Wynn for the slaying of Robert Wykel, whose body has not been found. Wykel, 66, disappeared in February 1996 after telling friends he was going to check out a vintage Ford Thunderbird. Wykel's car was found abandoned in a Burien park-and-ride lot. Wynn was charged with first-degree murder in February 2009. During Wynn's first trial, defense attorney Robert Jourdan said there was no evidence that Wykel was slain.
Drunk, combative woman sent to detox
A member of the loss prevention team at Fred Meyer called police to report an extremely intoxicated woman at the store. The woman was grabbing and yelling at customers, trying to get into other people's vehicles, and stumbling around the store and parking lot. She smelled heavily of intoxicants. Police arrived and tried talking to the woman. She was unable to tell the deputy where she lived or how she got to Fred Meyer. Several times she tried to grab the deputy and refused to sit down when asked. The woman told the deputy they were cousins and asked him about relatives she believed they had in common. At one point the woman grabbed the deputy's shirt and tried to pull him towards her. A control hold was used to place her on the ground and then safely into the police car. She was transported to Highline Medical Center for an evaluation as she was a danger to herself and others.
