Fri, 04/15/2011
While Varsity softball and tennis got cancelled yesterday, the Ballard boys lacrosse team faced former club partners from Roosevelt.
In previous years Ballard and Roosevelt players had played together for the Roughriders Lacrosse Club. Due to the fast growing popularity of Lacrosse the Ballard players split off this season and created their own club.
Roosevelt turned out to be too strong for the Beavers, defeating them 7 to 6.
Roosevelt jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead early in the game but Ballard had manage to even the score to 3 against 3 by the end of the first period.
The score was tied 5 to 5 at half time. Ballard defenseman Joe Kirkendall scored a quick goal to start the 3rd period but Roosevelt’s Eli Harmon and Eli Hall retaliated with two additional third period scores in what turned out to be the final scores of the game.

Things got exciting in the seventh inning when Inglemoor scored a run in the first half, challenging Ballard to score on the second half. Ballard did and the game went into an extra inning. Inglemoor was unable to score and the Beavers won the game at bat in the second half of the eighth inning with a game winning basehit by Blokker to bring Morgan Bailess across the plate.
