Seattle firefighters quickly responded to a fire in a single family residence in West Seattle at 11242 Marine View Dr. s.w. Saturday night. The first initial call went out at 9:48 pm and was upgraded to a full response as a precautionary measure.
The fire broke out in the back garage and was confined to the garage.
According to Battalion Chief Mike H. Walsh of the SFD,“ This was a fire that was an accidental cause, in the back garage. One of the persons living here set fire to a barbeque by plugging it in thinking he was plugging in a freezer, so it was just a mistake, plugged in the wrong device.
The gentleman that set the fire actually put it out with a couple of extinguishers, and so just to be careful were sending him up to the hospital just to get checked out, but he’s feeling just fine.”
