After a four year relationship, a man and his ex-girlfriend split up nine months ago. The two remained friends after the breakup and the man was taking care of the cat and dog purchased during the relationship. Things were going fine until earlier this month when the female asked the male’s opinion on something and she did not like the response. They got into an argument and the female began phoning and texting saying she now wanted the Labrador retriever On April 13 the man returned to his home on 17th Ave SW and “was surprised when his Labrador dog did not great him when he entered.” The cat and cat carrier were also missing. The man suspects his ex-girlfriend in the animal burglary.
$95,000 in personal belongings were stolen from a woman on the 8600 block of Fauntleroy Way s.w. on April 18. The victim had been gone from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and returned home to find a side door pried open (likely with a crowbar). A small TV, two antique magnifying glasses, 144 pieced of antique Tiffany silver, 300 pieces of silver flatwear and several pieces of jewelry adorned with precious metals and gems were stolen along with a pillow case from the victim’s bed (likely to carry the loot). The responding officer collected three usable fingerprints and submitted them to evidence.
A high-end “restaurant quality” BBQ was stripped of several metal parts and its heat resistant window from a house on the 5600 block of 35th Ave s.w. on April 20. The theft occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and noon and it is unclear what the burglar intends to do with those parts.
On April 18 shortly before 9 p.m. officers responded to an armed robbery at an apartment complex on the 8100 block of Delridge Way s.w. The male victim was found with several cuts to his face and swelling on the back of his head and told police three black males wearing ski masks kicked down the back door and demanded money and marijuana. The victim refused to give them money so two suspects pulled out handguns and started pistol-whipping him in the head and face. While he was beaten, the third suspect ran through the apartment opening drawers and breaking glass. One suspect yelled outside, “Have him bring the car around back!” and the three men fled with $1500 in cash and two laptops. A woman and her child (age not given) who also live in the apartment were not home at the time of the attack. An area check for the suspects was unsuccessful and the victim was taken to Harborview for a CT scan.
