Nurturing Expressions has opened a boutique location at 4746 44th Ave. SW, Suite 201, in West Seattle. The business was founded in 2004 by Tracy Corey, a registered nurse and board certified lactation consultant and sits on the Western Washington Steering Committee of the Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington. She is a member of the International Lactation Consultants Association and La Leche League.

The company started as a mobile service delivering breastpumps and lactation services directly to moms in their homes or hospital rooms.The shop offers a private breastfeeding room where consultants can personally support mothers and their babies and they offer free baby weight checks. They also provide classes and support groups and specialize in selling breastfeeding supplies, breastpumps, and nursing bras. She Her team of five certified lactation consultants offer in-home or clinic breastfeeding support. They also provide online support through Twitter, where moms can ask their questions to “The Boobie Coach”.

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUPS

If you don't need a private lactation consultation, our support group can be just the thing for you. This fun and relaxed venue will provide a way for you to ask your breastfeeding questions and receive breastfeeding guidance from a lactation consultant while meeting new mothers. You will have the opportunity to weigh your baby and if needed do pre and post feeding weights to see how much milk your baby is getting. Space is limited to 8 moms, so call to reserve your spot. Cost – $10

Support groups will be held every Tuesday from 1:00-2:30 starting on May 3rd, 2011.

BREASTFEEDING 101

Just as childbirth classes prepare expectant parents for labor and delivery our breastfeeding class will teach you the benefits of breastfeeding, proper breastfeeding techniques and positions, common stumbling blocks, pumping/storing and introducing a bottle. Class size is limited so call to reserve your spot. 2 hours. Cost – $40

NURTURING MOM & BABY

Come join our postpartum Doula, Magdalena Hamilton, in a conversation on life with baby. She will lead the group in topics on organization, siblings, dad, baby blues, sleep and many more pertinent topics. Class space is limited, so please call to reserve your spot. 6 week class. 1 hour. Cost – $45
