The Ballard Track Boys and Girls Teams competed at separate invitational meets this weekend. The boys were at the Shoreline Invitational where 55 boys teams competed and the girls were across the lake at the Lake Washington Invitational where 51 schools competed. The Shoreline and Lake Washington meets are the two premier track meets in Washington. Teams from all over the state come to compete.
At both meets Ballard athletes set many new personal records.
Top Ballard finishers at the Shoreline Invitational included Bryan Quandt who finished 6th in the fastest heat of the Frosh/Soph 1600 M with a personal record time of 4:38, Alex Bowns who finished 12th in the fastest heat of the 1600 M with a personal record time of 4:22, Alex Weatbrook who finished 5th in the discus with an additional 10 foot personal record throw of 147' 11", and Matt Kelly who finished 14th in the javelin with a 155' 5" throw.
Top girl finishers for Ballard at the Lake Washington Invitational included Emma Suchland who finished 8th in the 200 M with a personal record tome of 26:04 and Emma Onstad-Hawes who finished 6th in the 400 M with a personal record time of 61:04.

Ballard's final regular season meet is Thursday, May 5, against Garfield and Roosevelt. The meet will take place at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle.
Ultimate:
The Ballard co-ed ultimate team competed in the world's largest youth ultimate tournament over the weekend.
A few inches of grass was all that separated Ballard from taking home the championsip when a long crossfield pass from Jake Lemmen to Savanna Ryan in overtime against Vancouver's St. George's/York House fell just short.
For seven and a half hours and six games, Ballard faced down the best teams in the Northwest until finally falling in the championship game, in sudden death overtime with a score of 11 to 12.
"They played with so much heart and left everything they had on the field, some blood, sweat, and finally, a lot of tears," said Coach Ben Goldfarb.
Ballard finished second out of 48 teams.
The team was led by senior captains Savanna Ryan who had 10 goals and 17 assists and Kenny Lane who scored 11 goals, had 10 assists and 6 blocks. Senior Moses Goldfarb scored 6 goals, 15 assists, and 5 blocks; Sarah Edwards had 4 goals and 2 assists; junior captain Jake Lemmen scored 10 goals, 13 assists, and had 6 blocks; and junior Glenn Zieve scored 4 goals, had 9 assists, and 12 blocks.
Softball:
The Beavers softball team competed against Newport on Friday afternoon and defeated the Vikings six to one. Newport scored a run in the first inning but was unable to beat Ballard's pitcher Andrea Jewett and the Beavers defense again for the remaining six inning.
The Beavers scored all their six runs in the first four inning and the game remained scoreless after that,
Andrea Jewett picthed all seven innings and struck out 14 batters.
Julia Boone was three for four with three RBI; Bernie Cardon had one double and two RBI, Brittney Blokker was two for three and scored one run.
Baseball:
The Ballard baseball team faced Bothell and despite a great comeback effort in the sixth inning lost four to three.
The game was scoreless until the third inning when Bothell scored two runs. Bothell scored two more runs in the following innings. Things looked promising for the Beavers in the sixth inning when they managed to score three runs. But a scoreless seventh inning lead to a four to three defeat.
Rory Graf-Brennen was two for three and scored one run; Brendan Foor had one hit and one RBI; and Oliver Guarino had a double and one RBI.
Soccer:
Ballard boys soccer team played Issaquah on Saturday and lost four to one. Ballard's Brent Campbell scored the first goal and the Beavers held Issaquah until the 66th minute when Issaquah's Alex Shane scored. That awoke the Issaquah team and they scored three more goals.
