Police investigating report of two students filmed having sex
Des Moines police are investigating whether two Mount Rainier High School students were filmed having sex at a party. A 15-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy allegedly had sex in front of everybody in the middle of a party. Police believe other students attending the party pulled out their cell phones and the recording was sent out to other students. School administrators got word of the recordings and reported it to the school resource officer who immediately called police. Police are trying to get consent to review the cell phone footage to determine if it includes sexually explicit depictions of a minor. It is a felony to possess or send depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Highline High School student charged with attempted rape
King County prosecutors have charged a Highline High School student with attempted first-degree rape. Chris Lito, 17, is accused of attacking a 16-year-old girl with a brick as she was walking to the Burien Transit Center.
Prosecutors gave the following account of the incident: The girl was walking near the 200 block of S.W. 154th Street when allegedly Lito grabbed her from behind and forced her into a secluded area on a short stairway. He began beating her as she tried to defend herself, and then began to choke her while trying to remove her pants. Lito dropped the girl and picked up a nearby brick and held it over her. The girl's screams prompted Lito to drop the brick and leave the area before help arrived. A resident heard the attack and called police. Officers found two condom wrappers and an unused condom near the area of the attack, leading them to believe there was a sexual motivation for the attack. Police arrested Lito but he claimed the girl spontaneously decided to have sex with him after he sat next to her at the bus stop. He said the girl forced him into the stairwell and wouldn't let him leave. Lito's hands were bloodied and his clothes were in disarray, he was also still wearing a condom, police said. Lito is being held on $500,000 bail in King County Jail.
Registered nurse diverting painkillers nearly 100 times
State health officials have suspended the license of, Gordon E. McSherry, 46, a registered nurse accused of diverting drugs from hospitals for personal use. McSherry has also been charged with Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, a felony drug crime. From March 2010 until April 2011, he was a registered nurse in the state of Washington but failed to disclose an arrest in Texas where he was accused of stealing drugs. Records show a felony arrest warrant issued in Texas, but charges weren't filed until September 2010. By that time McSherry was already working for several hospitals, including Highline and Virginia Mason Medical Center. Officials say he was withdrawing Fentanyl, a powerful painkiller considered 50 times stronger than morphine, for patients who never received them. Virginia Mason reported him to the police and fired him, but even after being fired he was still able to find work at three more hospitals. The action by the state Department of Health means McSherry can no longer work as a registered nurse until the charges are resolved. He can fight the suspension with the state nursing commission by requesting a hearing within 20 days.
