The West Seattle High School PTSA is proud to present the 3rd Annual West Seattle 5K Run/Walk. The event kicked off Sunday May 22nd on Alki around 9:30 am as part of the “Celebrate Seattle Summer Streets” Car-free Sunday. All of the benefits will go to West Seattle High School and all the funds will be used to improve math, science programs, and communications.
In attendance was about 1200-1400 runners/walkers.
Jeff Randall was the MC of this years West Seattle 5K.
Here are the Top Male/Female runners and their times:
Male:
1st Place Joe Sheeran 15:57
2nd Place Kyle Smits 16:16
3rd Place Ian McMorran 16:33
Female:
1st Place Megan Johnson 17:31
2nd Place Mary Hanna 19:02
3rd Place Alexandra Walton 19:12
In addition for the top 3 finishers for each age group, they will receive a ribbon for either first, second, or third place. The age groups ranged from 9 years old all the way up to 75 and older.
They also handed out extra ribbons for a special novelty category for the oldest male/female runner, youngest male/female runner.
This year’s event will promote healthy eating and active life styles for our school community. Experts recommend getting 30 minutes of moderate-level physical activity on most days of the week.
Participants got to enjoy a beautiful view of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline on this scenic, five kilometer course along Alki Avenue SW. The course begins at the Alki Bath House and then proceeds east along Alki Avenue SW. At Anchor Park, runners return to the starting point. This is a USATF-certified course.

You can bring jogging strollers but we ask that you please start toward the back of the pack.
Dogs on a leash are allowed but we ask that you start at the back of the pack. Please keep control of your dog and be respectful of other participants.
