Westside Snow Report: Suns Out, Guns Out
Thu, 12/07/2017
By Jamie Cary
Alright friends, the snow dropped over the past weekend laying a dusting of snow. Now it’s suns out, guns out. Grab your carvers and head up to the slopes for some corduroy. Snoqualmie has opened West, with Alpental and Central starting up their lifts this weekend.
Mt. Baker, Crystal, and Stevens Pass have been herding the Cats around the mountain, grooming her up just for you. The sun is out so remember your sun screen, and keep your eyes peeled for Santa Claus; he has been sighted in the high mountains. The spring conditions make the trails fast and fun, but beware off trails and in the trees, as rocks and stumps will become more visible as the snow settles out.
It looks like the sunny days are here to stay, at least for a little while. The high pressure has settled in, daily highs will be in the 40’s and 50’s with the freezing level chilling at roughly 11,000 feet. An inversion will bring in some fog down low in the mornings, but if that’s not your thing hop on the lift and it will help you ascend into the light. The sun will stay out through the weekend, with some light breezes. Some high clouds might move in Saturday evening.
Here are links to local ski areas so you can visit their sites for the most up to date info. If you had a great day on the mountain, come by Mountain to Sound Outfitters and let us know how your trip was or feel free to post in the comment section.
Make sure you check the WSDOT Pass Reports for driving conditions.
