A fire that began before 8am in a single family home at 4022 39th SW in West Seattle was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived. A 55 year old man, who was in his bedroom, was found and taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition suffering burns after first being stablized by Seattle Fire EMT's on the scene.

The initial call out was that it was a potential hoarding situation but Captain Stephenson speaking for SFD could only say firefighters encountered difficulties in attempting to reach the man. Neighbors, SFD said, were instrumental in pointing out the location of the bedroom where he was found. 

No cause or damage estimate or update on the man's condition was offered by SFD.
