Area basketball teams in the Metro League, North Puget Sound League and South Puget Sound League are all entering postseason play.
The Metro League season wrapped up Friday, with the league championship and district qualifying tournaments opening Monday.
All of the six teams in the championship tournaments have already qualified for the upcoming Sea-King District tournament and are playing for seeding, while the district qualifying tournament features all of the lower finishers in the league battling for the No. 7 and No. 8 district berths.
The Ballard girls finished the regular season with a 53-23 win over Ingraham on Friday and they open the championship tournament by hosting Cleveland at 7 p.m. Monday.
West Seattle opens the boys championship with a 7 p.m. visit to O’Dea on Monday.
The Ballard girls would advance to play top seeded West Seattle at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Seattle Pacific University with a win.
The district qualifying tournaments includes the Chief Sealth girls at Roosevelt and the Ballard boys at Blanchet in loser-out games Monday, while the Chief Sealth boys open with a loser-out game at Lakeside on Tuesday.
District qualifying tournaments run through Thursday, concluding with the battles for seventh and eighth that night.
The NPSL tournament was held this past week with the West Central District tournament opening this week.
The Kennedy girls played Auburn in a loser-out game Thursday and lost, 43-33, while the Kennedy boys qualified fourth for district with a 64-48 loss to Enumclaw on Saturday.
The Mount Rainier boys qualified seventh with a 50-37 victory over Auburn Mountainview on Friday.
Kennedy hosts Skyview at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Mount Rainier visits Union at the same time as the WCD boys tournament gets underway.
SPSL 2A crossovers were held Friday, with the Foster girls defeating Steilacoom by a 66-62 score and the Highline boys losing to Lindbergh, 80-76.
The Foster girls host River Ridge at 7 p.m. Wednesday to open their WCD tournament and the Highline boys host Port Angeles at 7 p.m. Thursday.
