Auto thief arrested
Officers arrested two people Saturday morning, Jan. 27, after a man saw someone trying to steal his truck from his West Seattle home. A man in the 7500 block of 12 Ave SW called 911 to report that someone was inside of his vehicle, trying to take off with it. Officer Marc Sagmoen quickly arrived and found the suspect just 75 ft. from the victim’s vehicle. Sagmoen stopped the 28-year-old suspect, who was was carrying a pistol in his back pocket, 2.5 grams of heroin and shaved keys used for stealing vehicles. Additional officers found a second man waiting for the suspect to return in a nearby car. Officers took the 29-year-old accomplice into custody for various misdemeanor warrants.
Thief takes a number of items from backyard shed
Around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, officers were dispatched to the 8800 block of 20 Ave SW to investigate a shed that had been burglarized. The caller said that she noticed her bike helmet in the alley by her house while driving home. The helmet is usually kept in a locked shed in her backyard. When she got home, she discovered that the lock had been twisted and broken off. She went inside and made a list of stolen items, which included a saw, two drills, power sander, bicycle, tile saw, two sleeping bags and a hiking backpack. The shed had been secured when she left the house at 10 a.m. that morning.
Laundry room burglars caught, arrested
Around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, a maintenance man at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of 60 Ave SW called police to report that two male suspects kicked in the laundry room door and stole quarters from the machine. He was able to describe both suspects in detail. They ran north in an alley. Officers located two men who matched the description at the intersection of Alki Ave SW and Marine Ave Sw. Officers brought the suspects to the maintenance man who was able to identify them both. They were placed under arrest and once searched, officers found they were carrying burglary tools and $33 in quarters. The money was returned to the apartment complex. The suspects were transported to King County Jail.
Tool thief on 17 Ave SW
Around 7:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, officers were alerted to a burglary in the 3800 block of 17 Ave SW. The suspect cut through the fence to gain access to the property, then took a number of tools from a trailer. The suspect left behind bolt cutters on the scene of the crime.
