High schools
Girls basketball
West Seattle and Seattle Christian are both bound for state regional action coming on the heels of district championships this past weekend.
The Sea-King District champion Wildcats will battle Metro League rival Garfield in a 6 p.m. game at Bellevue College this coming Saturday. The winner goes straight to the state 3A quarterfinals and will play in the Tacoma Dome starting March 1, while the loser plays a loser-out opening round game the day before at the same site.
Seattle Christian’s Warriors won the Class 1A West Central District tournament and will now play Seattle Academy in a 2 p.m. Saturday game at Puyallup High School. The loser is out while the winner opens state with a loser-out game Feb. 28 at the Yakima Sun Dome.

Mariners
Seattle opens its spring training schedule in Arizona this Friday, visiting the San Diego Padres at the complex the Mariners share with them in Peoria at 12:10 p.m.
The Mariners host the Chicago White Sox there Saturday and entertain the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, with both of those games starting at the same time.
Stars
Tacoma hosts the Ontario Fury for a 7:35 p.m. professional indoor soccer match at the Showare Center in Kent this Friday.
Thunderbirds
Seattle visits the Tri-City Americans for a 7:05 p.m. Western Hockey League match this Tuesday before dropping in on the Kelowna Rockets at the same time Friday.
The Thunderbirds come home to the Showare Center in Kent to face the Everett Silvertips at 6:05 p.m. Saturday.
Colleges
Husky men’s basketball
The University of Washington pays a 6 p.m. visit to Stanford on Thursday before going to California for 1:30 p.m. action Saturday.
Both games can be seen on the Pac-12 network.
Husky women’s basketball
Mount Rainier graduate Brittany McPhee and the Stanford Cardinal are coming to the Alaska Airlines Arena to play an 8 p.m. game against the University of Washington this Friday.
The Huskies get a 3 p.m. visit from California on Sunday.
The Pac-12 network will air both games live.
Cougar men’s basketball
Washington State University plays an 8 p.m. game at California on Thursday before going to Stanford for a 4 p.m. contest Saturday.
Both games will be carried on the Pac-12 network.
Cougar women’s basketball
The Cougars play host to California at 7 p.m. Friday in Pullman before Stanford pays a visit at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Sunday’s action can be seen on the Pac-12 network.
Redhawk men’s basketball
Seattle University visits Grand Canyon for 6 p.m. action Thursday before visiting CSU Bakersfield at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Redhawk women’s basketball
Seattle entertains Grand Canyon at 6 p.m. Thursday before hosting CSU Bakersfield at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Falcon men’s basketball
Seattle Pacific University hosts Central Washington University for a 7:30 p.m. game Thursday and Northwest Nazarene at the same time Saturday.
Falcon women’s basketball
Mount Rainier graduate Jordan McPhee and the SPU women host Western Oregon at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and Concordia of Oregon at the same time Saturday.
Bulldog men’s basketball
Gonzaga University visits San Diego for 6 p.m. action Thursday on ESPN2 before visiting Brigham Young for a 5 p.m. game Saturday that will be carried on ESPN.
Bulldog women’s basketball
Gonzaga entertains San Diego at 6 p.m. Thursday and hosts BYU at 2 p.m. Saturday.
