To celebrate their 30th anniversary in business, West Seattle Thriftway made the gifts all about their customers. Over 30 days they gave away $1900 worth of free groceries, selecting customers at random each day as they completed their shopping.
The big winner was Chelle, who walked away with $230 of free products with the smallest winner, Jerry, who was awarded a free gift worth $3.99. He quipped, "I should have bought more!"
Owners, Paul and Connie Kapioski have been serving the West Seattle community in many ways during their entire tenure. Since its inception the business has been through a lot - even a devastating fire back in 1997. While closed to rebuild Paul ran a shuttle for his Senior shoppers up to the then Admiral Thriftway a few times a week to ensure they got the groceries they needed.
Kapioski said, “We wanted to say thank you and give back to our customers directly. What better a way than paying their bill? It was a lot of fun giving away groceries and hearing the customers cheer for each other when we did the drawings.”
West Seattle Thriftway is an independently owned and operated grocery store located in the heart of the Morgan Junction.
Their next big event is their hugely popular Easter Egg hunt 9 a.m. Saturday. More than 25,000 eggs will be distributed throughout the store for kids to collect and prizes to be awarded. Show up early!
