In a a new treasured tradition, West Seattle Thriftway held its annual Easter Egg Hunt with 27,000 eggs (up 4000 from last year) and 160 prizes ranging from "enough candy to fill every dentist's pocket" to Nintendo Gameboys, toys and Mariners tickets.
At 9am the toddlers were first in and what seemed like a nearly endless stream were followed a few minutes later by the older kids who found plastic eggs literally everywhere throughout the store (with the exception of the wine and liquor areas which were off limits.
Each child could collect up to 25 eggs and then take the plastic "shells" to a recycle bin. They are then cleaned, sanitized and used again next year.
