Kilifi playing for Seawolves
Olive Kilifi, a 2005 graduate of Tyee High School, is a member of the Seattle Seawolves team in the fledgling Major League Rugby association.
The 31-year-old Kilifi plays the prop forward position and stands at 5-foot, 11-inches and 260 pounds.
Kilifi was named to the USA Rugby 2015 World Cup team, playing three matches.
Madison awaits NFL draft
Kennedy graduate and Burien resident Cole Madison has been picked by some to be a mid to late round selection in the National Football League draft that runs Thursday through Saturday of this week.
Madison has spent the past four seasons on the offensive line for the Washington State University Cougars football team.
The Seattle Seahawks are among the teams he has visited.
Barnette activated by Texas
Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette has been activated from the disabled list and rejoined the Texas Rangers’ bullpen.
Barnette has made two appearances so far and has a 0-0, 0.00 record, striking out three in 2.2 innings of work.
Kela 3-for-3 in saves
Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela is 3-for-3 in save opportunities for the Texas Rangers this year.
The hard-throwing right-hander has a 2-1, 4.95 record and eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings and eight appearances.
Mann throwing for Round Rock
Mount Rainier graduate Brandon Mann is 0-0, 0.00 for the Texas Rangers’ Class AAA farm team, the Round Rock Express.
The left-hander who came to Texas by way of Japan and the Tampa Bay Rays organization has nine strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched.
Brett batting .241 for Barons
Highline graduate Ryan Brett is playing for the Rangers’ Class AA team in Birmingham – the Barons – and batting .241 (7-for-29) with one double, four runs scored and one RBI.
Brett previously played for the Tampa Bay Rays and their Class AAA Durham Bulls farm team.
McCullough standing out
West Seattle graduate Morgan McCullough is enjoying a banner season with the Chipola Junior College baseball team in Florida as a sophomore after starring at the University of Oregon as a freshman.
McCullough is batting .339 (56-for-165) with 44 runs, 42 RBI, 15 doubles, two triples and three home runs.
Gallagher hitting .261 at UW
Kennedy graduate Maggie Gallagher has a .261 average for the University of Washington women’s fastpitch softball team this spring with six hits in 23 at-bats.
She has four runs scored and four RBI for the Huskies with two doubles.
McPhee ready to train
Mount Rainier graduate Brittany McPhee opens her training camp with the Seattle Storm of the WNBA on Sunday after signing as a free agent out of Stanford University.
