West Seattle wound up one run shy of state Thursday, taking a 5-4 loss to Juanita in the Sea-King District girls fastpitch softball tournament.

Juanita claimed the district's fifth and final state berth while putting an end to the Wildcats' season.

Thursday's game took place at the Southwest Athletic Complex near Chief Sealth.

The tournament concludes there Friday with the third place game at 5 p.m. and the championship at 7 p.m.
