Best of Hands Barrelhouse buildout on track for late summer or fall opening
Are they milking the cow? No. The famous landmark atop the former John's Deli at 7500 35th SW will be refurbished and given new life according to the owners of Best of Hands Barrelhouse, now building out for a likely fall opening.

After John's Deli at 7500 35th Ave SW closed in 2017 a new proprietor announced they would take over the space. Best of Hands Barrelhouse, as is sometimes the case, encountered delays largely due to permitting and are now hoping to open late this summer or by this fall.
The famous cow, a holdover from the days when the facility offered locker storage of beef in freezers, is made of fiberglass(and it is absolutely staying "the most common question we get and now it's worked into our branding" the owners said) will be refurbished to last many more years. The owners also get numerous offers to buy the cow but it is not for sale. It's been very securely attached to the roof now after tipping over due to wind last year. The cow has now been taken down but is set to return once refurbishment is complete.
The microbrewery and taproom will seat 56 patrons and offer rotating food trucks. They will specialize in barrel aged and barrel fermented beers as well as wild ales that utilize different souring methods and multiple strains of Brettanomyces. While these sour and/or funky beers will be the brewery's main focus, they will also produce "clean beers" fermented exclusively by Saccharomyces (brewer's yeast) that have a proven following here in the Pacific Northwest. They aim to yield styles such as IPAs, barrel-aged stouts, farmhouse ales (such as saisons), and beers crafted in various traditional brewing methods from around the world.
The brewery and taproom will be managed and directed by co-owners Nicholas Marianetti, Gregory Marlor, and Chris Richardson. All three are long time West Seattleites and veterans of the food and beverage industry. Nicholas and Gregory are Certified Cicerones®, and award winning homebrewers. Chris is a small business owner with 20 years experience in small business operations.
