Junction rolls out SOL (Save Our Lots) Pale Ale fundraising brew
Mon, 07/09/2018
The effort to preserve the free parking spaces in the West Seattle Junction will enter a new phase on Wednesday when the West Seattle Junction Association (WSJA) will formally announce the introduction of SOL Parking Pale. The new brew made by the Ellliott Bay Brewing Company is the first in what is likely to be a series of efforts to raise enough money to help offset a much higher lease payment, itself driven by higher taxes on the land occupied by the 229 spaces around Junction.
The lease on that land is still in the process of being negotiated between the WSJA and the consortium of land and business owners called the West Seattle Trusteed Partners that is seeking to develop the land. The 10 year lease signed last year is a point of contention between the parties since it limits what and how much can be developed.
The WSJA offered a description of the beer and some answers regarding the fundraising effort.
SOL (Save Our Lots) Parking Pale #SOL
This fund-raising summertime beer is a hybrid, somewhere between a session style pale ale and a hazy light wheat. Its citrusy aroma and quaff-ably refreshing finish make it the perfect beer to enjoy during these dog days of summer. Organic Washington-grown Amarillo and Simcoe hops plus a touch of NW wheat make this beer so enjoyable and balanced.
FAQ’s
Why are you raising funds?
Since the mid-50’s the Junction merchants have supported FREE parking. Now, due to increased property values on the parking lots we’re in danger of losing parking completely.
Can’t you just charge for parking?
Unfortunately no. The landlords currently will not allow us to charge for parking. If we could, we could charge a nominal $2 an hour which would help!
Is the Junction a nonprofit?
Yes! The Junction is a registered 501 (c) (3) EIN 91-1403639
Who else is supporting this fundraiser?
