SEDRO WOOLLY--West Seattle won again in the state Major Little League baseball all-star tournament Tuesday, this time in a winner's bracket semifinal.
The Westsiders were 5-1 winners over Sammamish to advance them to Thursday's 4 p.m. winner's bracket final against either Auburn or Pacific back in Sedro Woolley.
Thursday's winner advances straight to Saturday's 12 p.m. provisional championship and would need to lose twice to not take the title.
The loser plays in Friday's loser's bracket final and needs to win that and two championship games to win state.
The state Majors age 10-12 champion advances to the Western Regional tournament in San Bernardino, Calif. to play for a berth in the World Series in Williamsport, Penn.
West Seattle won state at age 9-11 last year but the champion does not advance at that level.
Miles Gosztola struck out eight in four innings for the Westsiders against Sammamish and also had two RBI.
Matthew Henning thtew the final two frames, striking out four.
Caden Fahy and TJ Beuhring had two hits apiece and Simon Vance had one RBI. Henning contributed the only West Seattle walk.
