National Night Out, a national event intended to bring neighbors together to combat crime and promote better local communication did just that on Aug. 6 with parties that took place on streets all over Seattle (and the nation).
Part of the needs served were to help people learn to talk to their neighbors, and be able to come to their assistance in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
Most parties used make shift tables and barbeques, with potluck food from everyone attending. Some had live bands and the Seattle Fire Department managed to get out and visit a few lucky parties too.
Brats, dogs and burgers and a lot more hit BBQ's during the event. Photo by Patrick Robinson The fantastic folks on Henderson Street near the Ferry Dock gather every year. Only Gary was missing. He was fishing! Photo by Patrick Robinson Night Out is a family event as this father took time to twirl his daughter in the air. The food came from West Seattle Thriftway who awarded it in a raffle! Photo by Jack Miller
