Information from King County Metro

From Friday morning, January 3 at 9:00 AM, through Monday morning, January 6 at 6:00 AM, Metro routes 21, 50, 55 and the RapidRide C Line will be affected during a full closure of the intersection at 35th Av SW and SW Alaska St.

Route 21 reroute 
Route 21 Local and Express service will be rerouted off 35th Av SW between SW Avalon Way and SW Morgan St, and will travel instead via Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Morgan St.

Route 21 35th Av SW shuttle 
Although Route 21 will be unable to serve stops along 35th Av SW between SW Avalon Way and SW Morgan St, a small shuttle bus will operate in both directions along 35th Av SW between SW Edmonds and SW Morgan streets, and will serve all regularly posted stops.

The shuttle is free and will operate approximately every 20 minutes. The hours of operation are limited and do not incorporate the full span of the service day.

The only Route 21 riders who will need to use the shuttle are those traveling to or from points along 35th Av SW between Morgan and Edmunds that are too far from SW Morgan St or SW Alaska St to walk.  Route 21 riders going to or from points near or south of Morgan, or near to or south along Avalon Way can ride the regular service that will be rerouted.

Transfers between Route 21 regular service and the shuttle can be made at the following locations: 

From points along 35th Av SW at or south of SW Edmunds St, ride the shuttle to the stop on eastbound SW Morgan St just east of 35th Av SW, then:

•  Heading toward downtown Seattle, walk west across 35th and board Route 21 at the stop along its reroute on westbound SW Morgan St just west of 35th Av SW.
•  Heading toward Westwood Village/Arbor Heights, walk west across 35th, then south, and board Route 21 at the regular stop on southbound 35th Av SW just south of SW Morgan St.

To get to points along 35th Av SW north of Morgan St, board the shuttle northbound on 35 Av SW just north of SW Morgan St.

Routes 50, 55 & the RapidRide C line reroutes 
Routes 50, 55 and the RapidRide C Line will be rerouted off 35th Av SW and the portion of SW Alaska St east of Fauntleroy Way SW, and will travel instead via Fauntleroy between SW Avalon Way and SW Alaska St.  

Riders may board or exit at temporary and regularly posted stops along the revised routing.  

This closure is part of Seattle Department of Transportation’s (SDOT) SW Seattle 35/Avalon Paving Project.
