This is Scott Ge, living in Seattle. Two months ago I quit my 12 year career at Microsoft and started this Smartable AI startup to fight the infodemic problem occurring with COVID-19.

I have personally observed a family member in China going through the treatment and how fast the virus is spreading. I strongly believe in the importance to raise the awareness in US.

I built this coronavirus map https://smartable.ai/apps/coronavirus/

by leveraging AI to aggregate data from various credible sources including more than 100 government pages, and cross-check. It provides close-to real-time data, and offers county-level info in each US state - this is something very unique in my work.

I have gone through lots of pain to aggregate data and ensure its quality. I don't want other users to go through the same pain. A couple of days ago, I decided to open up thedata through a free API, so developers and data scientists can benefit from the work.

In only 48 hours since I released the api, I have more than 100 developers signed up the api, including dev/researchers from Google.I wish this information can help people raise alert about the virus, and benefit from the effort.
