The Seattle Police Southwest Precinct will see a change at the top as Captain Kevin Grossman is being reassigned to the North Precinct. He announced the change in an email. Captain Martin Rivera will be taking over November 1st. Captain Grossman took over July 1, 2020 amid speculation that the SW Precinct might be closed due to budget cuts.
Captain Grossman writes:
I learned last week that effective November 1st, I will be taking command of the North Precinct, and Captain Martin Rivera will be taking the helm of the Southwest Precinct.
I had hoped to remain in West Seattle to see the reopening of the West Seattle Bridge, and to meet more folks as the pandemic recedes, but alas, that was not to be.
In any case, I have certainly enjoyed my time in West Seattle. The strong, vibrant neighborhoods and the interested and supportive residents make this a great place to be.
I will do everything I can to ensure a smooth transition to Captain Rivera, who has been a Night Duty Captain. Dorothy Kim will remain as the Operations Lieutenant, which will also maintain the stability of the precinct.
