UPDATE: Clusters of power outages hit West Seattle; Now restored
2500 Comcast cable customers were out too
Power was knocked out due to high winds that blew through West Seattle Dec. 11, 2021.

Aside from a few homes still in the dark the power outage that hit West Seattle plus the cable outage has been resolved.

Most of the power outages are resolved but 49 customers near SW Myrtle Street, east of California Ave SW were still out. A few other small areas were still without electricity at this hour. A 4pm restoration time was listed.
The Comcast outage continued for the 2500 customers in West Seattle however with no word on when it might be back.

Power to close to 150 homes in the Highland Park neighborhood got their power back but persistent power outages continued for around 240 others notably near Thistle and California Ave SW. Other small pockets including one in north part of West Seattle between Grayson Street SW and Watts Street SW on 49th SW affected 19 homes.
Downed wires in Fauntlee Hills in the 8700 block of 41st were reported to have been arcing and in flames but it was quickly resolved, however the wires are not yet put back up.
Downed trees blocked a pedestrian bridge near the West Seattle Health club and took out a power line there but also were behind a fire in a home on Yancy Street. The fire was reasonably small and confined to one room in the basement The rest of the home suffered some minor smoke damage. The resident can still live in the house.
Neighbor Dennis Whitaker said "I heard a boom around 2:30 am and came out to look. The trees on the bank of Longfellow Creek came down as the bank eroded away. Just last week we had salmon in there."

Several areas of West Seattle were without power during the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 11. High winds with gusts over 45mph were the likely cause.
Restoration was expected after 10am
The outages were in clusters with one on SW Myrtle Street affecting 49 homes. Another one affecting 250 customers was just east of Lincoln Park from Solstice Park on the north to SW Tillman on the South to 39th including the turn from California Ave SW to Thistle Street SW.
A fourth outage affected 712 customers with an earlier restoration expectation was further east and in Highland Park running from roughly SW Orchard Street on the north Delridge Way on the west down to Cloverdale Street SW on the south and to the edge of Westcrest Park on the east.
Comcast cable was also reporting that 2500 customers for voice, internet and cable TV were without service.
