The well known Ezell's Chicken will open its West Seattle location in the Morgan Street Junction on Monday Feb. 7 at 10am. This is a "soft open" so bear that in mind.
Expect a line. They are opening a week before the Superbowl, rather intentionally. Sean Casey, District Manager for the company said smiling, "This isn't the first time we've done that!"
A crew was in house on Thursday to get their final training before launch.
The chain, started in 1984 near Garfield High School and was so well regarded that by 1987 they had formed partnerships with the Sonics and Seahawks (still feeding the Seahawks nearly every week).
They gained national fame when they catered Oprah Winfrey's birthday in 1990.
2011 was a pivotal year for the company as Dennis Waldron, who had previously grown Cinnabon to a 400 outlet company joined Ezell's to build their franchising opportunities. That same year Ezell's launched their first food truck.
The chain now has 18 locations including Spokane, Tigard Oregon, and now West Seattle.
