The once free parking lots in the West Seattle Junction that, due to higher taxes were forced to become paid lots last year now have multiple proposals for their development.

In the meeting minutes on February 3, from the West Seattle Trusteed Partners (WSTP), owners of the land, they state that all four of the current proposals will be given an "objective analysis" by accounting firm CBIZ Bernston Porter. The firm has 92 offices nationwide.

WSTP anticipates they will complete the work in 30 days and will be prepared to present their report to the WSTP Board by the end of March.

The minutes state:

"Among the proposals, WSTP has received a proposal from Friends of the Junction LLC to acquire the WSTP entity with its assets. "Friends" is an entity that includes some current WSTP shareholders  and board member Leon Capelouto."

In the minutes they note that Mr. Capelouto, who is a major West Seattle land owner and developer, noted that the parking lot on 42nd SW is a potential target for one of the considered Light Rail alignments that may be built to West Seattle.

Quoting from the minutes:

"He raised the possibility that if the 42nd lot were taken with the inclusion of parking associated with that lot, that WSTP might satisfy community parking/transit needs."

They said they would reach out to former West Seattle Junction Executive Director Lora Radford who left that position last year, to join Sound Transit to discuss Sound Transit's plans.

The board also met with new Junction Association Executive Director Chris Mackay to talk about resurfacing and restriping the lots and that Diamond Parking who manages the lot payments has been tasked with getting some estimates for that work.
