Last month, SDOT completed post-tensioning in the West Seattle Bridge.

Post-tensioning steel cables reinforce the bridge structure and help prevent it from cracking, and also helps the bridge better support itself and respond to environmental factors like weather, vehicle loads, and other external forces.
The bridge is set to open on Sept. 18. A media tour of the repairs made is being provided by SDOT on Aug. 25 and that report will follow the tour.
SDOT has not yet announced the exact time or if there will be any kind of ceremony as part of the event. The repair process will come an end after 909 days of closure.
