Oct. 11, 2022, Carol Kelly Day was proclaimed by both the City of Seattle and King County to honor her 50 years of service at Spud Fish and Chips on Alki
Kelly was joined by her two daughters Victoria and Ashley and friend Harry Southern. Her daughters both worked with their mom at Spud too. Ashley said, "Most of my cousins worked here too. It was like a rite of passage."
Carl Taylor, Director of Operations for Ivar's Quick Service Division said, "I met Carol 25 years ago and I worked side by side with her for the first two years. She's outstanding. Carol is a rare person. She never is not smiling. We can have a line out the door, running out of stuff and she will still have a smile on her face. She's a very kind individual."
Ivars purchased Spud from the Alger family in 1999.
Carol said she has no plans to retire anytime soon. "I love what I do," she said.
