Boys basketball

West Seattle 72, Liberty 49

West Seattle put together a dominating performance Friday against Liberty of Renton to earn its way to state Class 3A regional play.

The Wildcats made the state's Sweet 16 with the victory at Bellevue College.

West Seattle will play for the District 2 No. 5 and No. 6 berths at 3 p.m. Saturday against Rainier Beach back on the Bellevue College floor.

Girls basketball

West Seattle 47, Holy Names 35

West Seattle also qualified for state regionals on the girls side Friday, fending off Holy Names in a game played at Bellevue College.

The Wildcats return to the same court to play Eastside Catholic at 4:45 p.m. Saturday with fifth and sixth place in the District 2 tournament at stake.
