The Special Olympic Polar Plunge for 2023 was a cold water but warm hearted event as 300 participants, many in wild costumes dashed into Puget Sound raising more than $115,000 for the charitable organization.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for thousands of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
This was a huge event with multiple food trucks, local news personalities, warming tents and lots of "cold" themed music.
