Pankov wins one of three
Dima Pankov of West Seattle won one of three tennis matches over the weekend to just miss out on placement in the Class 3A state boys singles tournament.
Pankov started off the tournament played at the Vancouver Tennis Center on the right foot, dealing Russell Anderson a 2-0 defeat.
Jack Scott defeated Pankov in his second match by a 2-0 score, however, and Pankov bowed out of the tournament with a second 2-0 loss.
A win would have put him into the match for fourth and seventh place.
West Seattle finishes fourth
West Seattle finished fourth for the second straight year in the state Class 3A baseball tournament.
The Wildcats lost to O'Dea, 8-7, in the game for third and fourth Saturday morning after being edged by eventual champion Lincoln, 5-4, Friday.
Both games were played at Funko Field in Everett.
West Seattle was coached by Dylan McLauchlin, who was assisted by Mike Fahy, Tyler Haggett, Ryan Ramsowner, Jake Magera and Kerry Tupper.
Seniors on the team were outfielder Cooper Hubbard, infielder Tyler Eisenhut, first baseman Owen Earls, pitcher/outfielder Miles Gosztola, catcher/pitcher Jake Lockwood and first baseman Weston Webb.
Most of the team was juniors in infielder/pitcher Bobby Trigg, outfielder Ryan Whitney, catcher/third baseman Matthew Hazlegrove, infielder/pitcher Caden Fahy, pitcher/outfielder Sam Waskowitz, outfielder/pitcher Tristan Buehring, infielder Daniel Madden, outfielder/pitcher/infielder Matthew Henning, pitcher/third baseman John Langen, infielder/pitcher Parker Eley, outfielder/pitcher Sabia Tomlinson and pitcher/outfielder Miles Chandler.
The lone sophomore was outfielder Lukas Cheha.
The two freshmen were Infielder/outfielder Cody Buehring and pitcher/outfielder Jacob McCall.
