On Friday evening, the West Seattle Concert Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra will be performing eclectic works from Bizet and Beethoven to Khachaturian and Gilbert & Sullivan. Join us in Chief Sealth International High School Auditorium for their season finale.
Founded in 2002, West Seattle Community Orchestras consists of Debut, Concert, and Symphony Orchestras, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, a beginning student Strings Ensemble, adult beginning Strings class, and an adult beginning Winds and Percussion class. All are led by accomplished, high-energy and experienced conductors.
Participation in the ensembles is open to the community and highly encouraged to budding musicians young and old--currently our member musicians range in age from 8-80! Registration is free for students through grade 12 and a nominal fee is required for adults. Rehearsals are held one evening per week, culminating in lively winter and spring performances.
The concerts, which are free of charge and open to the community, are held at the Chief Sealth International High School auditorium. The goal of WSCO is to instill passion and inspire an enjoyment of music-making through instruction and mentoring in mixed age ensembles. Musical pieces range in genre from classical to modern pop.
