Alki Beach (and Goldern Gardens in Ballard) will close an hour earlier than usual this summer starting May 24. They will be closed from 10:30pm and reopen at 4am.

A pilot program affecting both Golden Gardens and Alki Beach will start May 24 with both beaches closing at 10:30pm, one hour earlier than usual. The ongoing pilot program is intended to curb dangerous and criminal behavior. It ends on Sept. 22.
As they have in the past Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Police Department staff will bring in officers to close the beaches. Fires must be out by 10pm
Seatle parks has invited the public to provide input,via an online form. The hours for both beaches may change permanently based on the outcome of a meeting the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners will have next fall.
This marks the third year that Seattle Parks has closed Golden Gardens and Alki Beach earlier in an effort to deter dangerous behavior and crime.
Fires in designtated fire pits are permitted at both Alki and Golden Gardens as of May 24. They must be put out using water by 10 p.m. and are not allowed if burn bans or air quality alerts are in effect. The parks department wil unlock the pits between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Propane fires and portable grils are not allowed.
