The new King County Housing Availability Dashboard provides insights and understanding of the current affordable housing landscape for all King County residents.
Information from King County
King County Assessor John Wilson today announced the launch of a Housing Availability Dashboard which provides residents with real-time, data-driven information on King County's housing supply.
The dashboard, designed with the end-user in mind, is a user-friendly resource that will empower residents with real-time, quantitative housing availability insights. Through the provision of the dashboard, the Department of Assessments utilizes the informational power of its property tracking database to add value to affordable housing insights and solutions. Dashboard visitors find information on housing availability segmented by income levels and housing cost. The dashboard contrasts demand and housing quantities, revealing housing surpluses or shortages grouped by income and affordability levels.
"By government mandate, the Department of Assessments maintains records on each parcel of land in King County.” Wilson noted. “We reached out to a national community-focused nonprofit, FUSE Corps, to explore ways to empower everyday citizens to navigate housing availability demand and supply issues we all face."
The project, supported by Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell and Fuse Corps, resulted in the creation of a regularly updated, user-centric resource now available to provide insights and understanding of the current affordable housing landscape for all King County residents.
"We're thrilled to launch this vital resource and invite residents to visit the online dashboard," says Wilson. The KCDOA Housing Availability dashboard is now live and accessible via the King County Department of Assessments' website at https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/assessor.
