Update 4:35pm
Some sporadic pockets of outages remained out but for most customers of City Light the power was back on following massive outages caused by the "bomb cyclone" storm that blew through the area overnight Tuesday and Wednesday. Transformers were lost, trees fell, certainly some branches were down but a drive around the area early Wednesday looked as if a giant leaf blower had been turned on, with the streets largely swept clean. White Center and Westwood Village were without power for a significant portion of the day on Wednesday but finally got restored. A pocket of outages persisted just south of Schmitz Preserve Park.

6523 City LIght customers were out this moring.Power was still out at QFC in Westwood Village running on auxiliary power, but open. Target was open but McDonalds was not. Other stores in the shopping center appeared to be without power. White Center was out and the lights were still out in along the top of the ridge running down to Lake Burien

"It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of our 2024 Christmas light show. Earlier this evening, a strong gust of wind caused significant damage to the display. The most important thing is that everyone is safe, and for that, we are truly grateful. While we are saddened by this setback, we are determined to rebuild and return next year with an even bigger and better show. Thank you for your understanding and continued support."

Nearly 8000 people lost power around 6:30pm from Boulevard Park to Lake Burien on Tuesday night. Restoration was not expected until the morning. Another 1600 plus customers east of Military Road above Tukwila were out as well.
The winds were not expected to be more than 40mph in the primary Seattle area but gusts as high at 60mph or more were whipping the area as a so called "bomb cyclone" came over the northwest from northern California, Oregon up to north of Seattle.
