Matt and Elyssa Cichy love Alki and West Seattle so much they chose to open not just one gaming arcade but now two. The original West Seattle Arcade opened in July of 2023. But when the space at 2820 Alki Ave SW, became available the couple realized they had an opportunity to meet the many requests they had gotten to serve beer and provide more focus on both pinball and arcade classics. The official opening date is Dec. 19 but they celebrated with a ribbon cutting Tuesday night.
With 33 games on offer, visitors can enjoy timeless classics like Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Asteroids, alongside popular Japanese rhythm games like DDR. Pinball enthusiasts will be thrilled with the lineup, featuring machines like Labyrinth, Uncanny X-MEN Premium, and Pulp Fiction. The arcade boasts a diverse collection, with the oldest game dating back to the late 1970s and the newest released just last month.
Visitors can also enjoy a delicious array of snacks, including pizza served quickly from a special oven, fries, mozzarella sticks, soft pretzels, and more. For those of legal drinking age, beer will be available in bottles and cans. Gary’s Place welcomes everyone but asks that minors be accompanied by an adult.
Co-Owner Matt Cichy said, “The name sake of Gary’s Place is my dad who taught me everything I know. I’m excited to continue his legacy.”
Gary's Place also made Matt's relationship with his brother Mike closer since he operates a similar arcade in Bremerton and the two sometimes swap out games.
The arcade's operating hours are:
Monday to Thursday: 12 PM - 11 PM
Friday: 12 PM - 12 AM
Saturday: 11 AM - 12 AM
Sunday: 11 AM - 11 PM
While private parties will soon be available at Gary’s Place, they are not currently offered. Play Cards from West Seattle Arcade will work at both locations, making it easy for patrons to enjoy games across both venues.
