Police looking for 'RapidRide robber' who mugged woman

Seattle Police are looking for a man who followed a woman off the RapidRide bus and proceeded to attack and rob her.

According to our news partner, KCPQ Q13 News, the strong-arm robbery happened around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 10 when the woman got off the King County RapidRide bus at NW 85th St and 15th Ave NW.

The suspect is white, in his early twenties, heavy-set and was wearing a blue and green Seattle Seahawks cap, a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark Converse tennis shoes with green laces and white toes, according to Q13's interview of the victim, who only wanted to be identified as Tracy.

Tracy had been working on her Macbook laptop on the bus and when she left the bus the man had tried talking to her. However, his intents quickly became clear as he asked for her phone, backpack and money, she said.

“His voice escalated and (it) started getting physical and he hit me in the face, hit me in the gut,” she told to Q13. “I didn’t let go of my bag and so he dragged me, with the bag, across the intersection.”

She said the man had hit her in the face and the gut during the altercation. It was only after her face was bloodied and her body bruised that the man was able to wrestle the backpack off of her and run away.

Sexual offender found and arrested

Donny Winbush, a 43-year-old missing sex offender, was found and arrested earlier this month near Ballard after a viewer of Washington's Most Wanted tipped off police, according to the Ballard News-Tribune's news partner, Q13.

Winbush was arrested by Seattle Police Department on Aurora Ave and 85th St. He was wanted on a felony failure to register warrant since 2011 after being convicted of sexually assaulting two young sisters. He was a Level 3 sex offender and had at least 20 fake names that he was using to keep his identity hidden.

He had sexually assaulted the two sisters for months and had a long criminal record.

He’s been booked into the King County Jail on a no bail warrant.

Q13 Fox News and Robinson Newspaper form news partnership

Q13 Fox News (KCPQ TV) and Robinson Newspapers have formed a news partnership to share content in the Robinson Newspapers coverage area. Each will provide credits and links to the other in the agreement.

Q13 Fox News (KCPQ-TV) and Robinson Newspapers have formed a news partnership. The agreement will mean that stories in the coverage areas for Robinson Newspapers which include Ballard, West Seattle, White Center, Burien, SeaTac, and Des Moines will see shared coverage and credit between the two organizations.

The agreement will mean faster response for breaking news in some cases for Q13Fox News since the Robinson Newspapers staff will often be closer to the scene of an event. It will mean greater brand awareness for Robinson newspapers through on air credit for stories provided to Q13 Fox News.

The Robinson Newspapers include the Ballard News-Tribune, the West Seattle Herald/White Center News, the Highline Times/Des Moines News/SeaTac News.
KCPQ, channel 13, is the Fox television affiliate licensed to Tacoma, Washington serving the Seattle/Tacoma television market, owned by the Tribune Company.
