Officers went to Swedish Hospital in Ballard to speak with the 50-year-old female victim. She told officers that she had been walking and a male suspect approached her and asked her if she had any money. The victim told the suspect she had no money for him and then he demanded all the money she had and punched her in the face. She was knocked down and the suspect continued to punch the woman and left. The victim was transported to the hospital that morning but was released with abrasions to her head and bruising. The victim returned to the emergency room that evening. The police report states that the victim had a strong smell of alcohol permeating from her. On Nov. 14 she left to run errands and while she was gone her alarm company called and told her the alarm had been tripped. She called 911. When she got home she found her door open and things disturbed in her home. A jewelry box was on the floor. She found rings and watches missing. Police believe the suspect gained entry where a screen of a window was cut and the window damaged.

Dog defends home while owners away

A victim has more faith in her dog after it warded off an intruder on Nov. 14. The complainant lives in a home at 300 Northwest 64th Street. When she returned home she noticed that her pit-bull was staring at the back door. The dog seemed anxious. She examined the handle and noticed that one of the screws was on the floor. She called the police. She told officers that she had noticed a man watching her house from across the street the day before. She described that man as black, around six feet tall and wearing a dark jacket. The victim said she had only seen the man once before two weeks ago. Police searched the area but did not find the suspect.

Crime in Ballard.

Ballard News Tribune

Ballard Crime Watch: Chair stabbed by shotgun and notorious screen cutter is back

Ballard Crime Watch: Chair stabbed by shotgun and notorious screen cutter is back
 shaneh Thu, 09/04/2014 - 9:19am
<a href="https://www.westsideseattle.com/sites/default/files/images/wwwballardnewstribunecom/2014/09/bnt-crime-news-graphic.jpg" title="SPD" data-colorbox-gallery="gallery-newsstory-43003-9zGIYlu3RTY" class="colorbox" data-cbox-img-attrs="{"title":"SPD","alt":""}">

$300 taken from the till; inside job suspected

On August 17 officers responded to a burglary at a business residing on the 1700 block of Northwest Market Street. The business owner told officers that he had locked the front and back door before leaving the night before. He returned later that evening to retrieve his laptop, entering and exiting through the back door. The next morning the complainant told officers that $300 in cash had been taken from the cash register. The key to the till was kept in a drawer below the till and it had been moved. Officers inspected the doorways and there was no sign of forced entry. Nothing else was reported stolen. Officers did not recover fingerprints or security footage.

Screen cutter at it again

On August 18 Seattle police responded to a burglary/forced entry at a residence on the 105th block of Third Avenue Northwest. The resident told officers that he returned home to find his east facing kitchen window screen missing. He inspected the screen and found that a three-inch cut had been made. He believed that the suspect was unable to enter his home because of his large guard dog that must have barked. No fingerprints we recovered from the scene.

Suspect stabs woman’s chair with shotgun

On August 19 SPD responded to an assault with a deadly weapon at the 4600 block of Leary Way Northwest. Officers pulled up to the business and recognize the suspect described by dispatchers: white female in 40’s with pink top and black yoga pants. The suspect was leaving the business when officers arrived and slowly started backing into the business after seeing officers. There was also a male behind her. Officers told them to stay where they were and they did. They were arrested and cuffed for safety. Officers met with the victim who said that she was talking with the arrested male and giving him an update about her boyfriend, who was recently paralyzed, when the suspect pushed the back of her chair with a shotgun. The victim was knocked to the floor from the force. The male quickly took the gun away from the suspect and hid it behind a trash bin. Apparently the suspect was upset about the boyfriend’s medical condition. The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail.

Car in secure parking garage rampaged

On August 21 officers responded to a burglary in a secure parking garage at the 220 block of Northwest 58th Street.
