Two burglars/vandals were arrested on June 4 for breaking into a school on the 3800 block of S.W. Findlay St. Multiple alarms were tripped shortly after 1 a.m. and when officers arrived they could hear loud banging, glass breaking and “multiple voices echoing through the building.” The suspects initially tried to flee over the schools rooftops but stopped once they realized escape was unlikely. One suspect was cooperative, admitting to breaking into the school because they “just wanted to ‘break (expletive).’” The other suspect was less cooperative, telling police he was just there to play some basketball. Officers noted he didn’t have any shoes on and upon further investigation found a pair of size 12 Airspeed skate shoes jammed into a window to keep it open. The suspect eventually admitted to his involvement (and his shoes’ involvement) and both were booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
After making a short trip to the store around 1 a.m. on June 5 a man returned to his apartment on S. Cloverdale St. to a strange discovery. But first, the back story: The man and his wife had recently separated and she was staying with a man in Burien. Strangely, although he was staying at the apartment she was the one with the keys so he had to leave the door unlocked anytime he left. Still in the separation process, the wife had neatly packed her clothes into bags sitting on a bed. When the man came home he found his wife’s bags unpacked and realized the only thing missing was her underwear. Nothing else was missing or disturbed and the only other piece of evidence was a “suspicious burn mark” on the bedroom carpet. The burglary victim did his own investigation and spoke to two Spanish-speaking neighbors (with difficulty due to their language barrier). The first neighbor said he had seen another neighbor enter the apartment. When the “another neighbor” was confronted, he said he had seen a different neighbor enter the apartment. Police questioned the singled out-neighbor who denied any involvement. The victim could not offer any explanation as to why someone would want to steal his wife’s underwear.
Sometime between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. earlier this month a woman returned to her home on the 3500 block of S.W. Brandon St. and found her front door heavily damaged. Shoe prints, dents and pry marks were all visible, but the unknown perpetrator was unable to make any progress and eventually gave up. Police credited the “interior walls finished in lath and plaster (for) adding strength to the door frame structure.”
