Various projects are underway around West Seattle and while the West Seattle Herald did not visit them all, here are some updates on their status on June 21, 2011.
The Irish Pub, A Terrible Beauty, asked for help to get ready for a first inspection by the Liquor Control Board and got it as volunteers showed up last week to help them clean. They passed that inspection and while the construction process goes on, it is largely complete with their "Irish Market" (an area inside the restaurant/bar where you can buy authentic Irish products).
The restaurant is set to open at 11:00 am on June 28.
The Elliott Bay Brew Pub is now completing the last stages of their building front remodel and Mark Silber, working on the new "corners" to be added adjacent to the front door said it will be done soon. "It will be wrapped up by Wednesday of next week I bet you. It's gotta be done before the street fair" he said.
Les Schwab Tires on Alaska Street has hollowed out the interior of the former used car dealership and appears to be making good progress. The construction crew held a meeting on the roof on Tuesday. As the Herald previously reported the project should be complete in about 3 months.
Trader Joes at 4545 Fauntleroy Way s.w. has also hollowed out the interior and took down much northeast facade of the building. Crews were working tearing up the old pavement on Tuesday, June 21. The $420,000 remodel will completely remake the former car dealership into a retail grocery store but the process has taken a long time due to permit issues. The next inspection is set for June 30 and is a "temporary erosion and sediment control monitoring inspection provided when earth is moved to verify conformance with code requirements," according to the DPD. At least nine rounds of other inspections, including the final, must be conducted prior to opening.
