A couple burglars picked the wrong house on June 21. It was 2 p.m. on the 4700 block of 25th Ave S.W. when a homeowner caught two males walking out of his house with his stuff in their hands. The victim tackled Suspect #1 and yelled to a neighbor to call 911. Meanwhile, Suspect #2, while holding a machete but not using it began kicking and punching the victim in the ribs. Suspect #1 managed to wrestle free thanks to his unfair advantage and the men took off southbound down the alley. Police arrived on the scene and quickly located one of the suspects on the 4800 block of 25th Ave S.W. (ya, he didn’t even bother heading to a different street) and the second had seemingly gotten away. Several minutes later police received a call that the burglary victim and a crew of other neighbors were chasing the second victim down Delridge Way S.W. They had him securely detained when officers arrived to give the suspect a ride to the precinct. Both men were sent to King County Jail.
From the Alaska Junction on June 15, a man parked in his car around 6:30 p.m. asked a passing pedestrian if he could bum a smoke. The male walked to his window and instead of offering up a cigarette, grabbed the driver’s wallet (he was holding it in his hand, willing to offer money in the exchange) and ran off. The victim chased the suspect to a getaway car that drove off (they nearly hit each other in the process). No additional suspect information was given.
An assault and robbery occurred on Alki (corner of Alki Ave S.W. and 59th Ave S.W.). It was June 20 a little before 2 a.m. when a group of males accused a man of calling a woman an inappropriate name. One of the males hit the man, knocking him unconscious as he hit the ground. The suspect and another man then grabbed the victim and propped him up against a fence, took a photo or video of him with their cell phones, took his wallet and jumped into a white Chevy Malibu. The rest of the suspect’s group fled in a light green Ford Explorer and black BMW 5 Series with no BMW logo on the back. They all fled southbound on Alki Ave. Witnesses were unable to describe the suspects beyond their vehicles.
A house on the 7300 block of California Ave S.W. was looted by a burglar between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on June 12. While the owners of the house were in their backyard an unknown suspect walked in through their open garage and stole several items.
