The Divine Marigolds, a television pilot filmed almost entirely in West Seattle last spring is full swing in the promotion of their TV pilot that they are campaigning to get to network TV. It's not easy getting a show on television. The competition is fierce and sometimes even great shows are not accepted or if you've had a previous favorite get cancelled you get that it's a tough business. But the Divine Marigolds producers are made of sterner stuff and they keep pitching the show because they believe it in it so strongly.
They have advanced to the 3rd place out of 50 finalists in this national TV and Web series competition where the winner will get to pitch their show in front of Hollywood executives. The Divine Marigolds is a TV show about an Irish American family living in West Seattle and the love, antics and comedy that ensue when four adult children move back into the family home due to the economy. The West Seattle Herald covered the show during its production last fall.
The producers of the show, Lisa Coronado, Will Chase, Jeremiah Kaynor and Alder Sherwood created and filmed the pilot in Seattle with local talent and crew. “We have enlisted Los Angeles show runners to pitch our show in LA and so far the response has been great but we are also doing everything we can here to have our show be seen,” said Chase.
“We are social networking this show right into the hands of networks”, said Coronado. In order to compete with the Hollywood heavy hitters, The Divine Marigolds is doing everything they can to promote the show with limited budget, including entering in competitions, posting on Facebook, parades and film festivals.
“The response to our pilot has been extremely positive”, said Sherwood, “Social media has enabled us to get our show out there, and this NexTV competition will be a way to get it right in front of the Network TV decision makers.”
“The creation of Divine Marigolds has been a huge community involvement from the sponsorship of the Husky Deli, to the support of local filmmakers, neighbors and businesses,” said Kaynor.
Competitions like this give independent film makers a chance to compete with the large production companies and get local programming on network TV.
The voting for the competition is open until Oct. 10th.
