Salesperson Adam Price and Rob Stowell partner and project manager for Mountain to Sound Outfitters walk through the new space the business is expanding into next to their current location. The company is planning to offer custom ski boot fittings and will expand their lines of merchandise.
Mountain to Sound Outfitters is on track with it's expansion plans into the space next door to its location at 3602 s.w. Alaska Street. The 1800 square foot space directly to the east of them was occupied by Westside Auto Repair but Gary Putman closed the business in early June due to illness.
Now partners Greg Whittaker and Rob Stowell are adding on in several ways as the business grows to meet an increased demand for a local supplier of skis, boots, kayaks, skates, stand up paddle boards and all the accessories those sports require.
They've added an office space in a loft that will accommodate accounting, web development.
They will offer custom ski boot fitting in the new space, plus a large display from Thule (who is coming in to help set it up), plus some new lines including Hestra gloves, Scott gloves, goggles, poles and of course skis, Forefront skis from Colorado, Mervin with NAS skis and Gnu snowboards, plus more hats, goggles and gloves.
The company will add one to two more people to work the new space and to tend to an improved and larger online presence. They have a web store up and running now but "We will have another one that's a little more tied into our inventory system," said Stowell.
The company's online efforts to date have been selling a lot of kayak tours (they also own Alki Kayak Tours a rental and tour company on Harbor Ave. s.w.) and plan to sell more ski shuttle tours this winter.
The online store will be revamped to, "accentuate all the nice new, cool little products that we have," said Stowell, " like safety accessories for kayaking, gloves, goggles, GPS gear stuff like that."
Package deals, in which a chunk of gear that goes together is offered for a single price is part of the equation too. "Right now those are just in-store because we want all the options for our local customers to be available here without putting all the best stuff available to the whole world."
A celebration during the sale will take place October 1st and will include a BBQ (1:00-5:00, free for customers), Industry Pro's (T.B.A.), Giveaways every hour, Paddlesports Closeout, 10% off New Ski and Board Gear, and 30-60% off previous season Ski and Snowboard Gear.
