SLIDESHOW: Halloween is huge for some homeowners in West Seattle

For some people Halloween is their favorite occasion. It's not really a holiday (nobody gets to take the day off) and while it has traditions (costumes, and trick or treating) it doesn't really have any other practices that a lot of people follow. This means that for those who love it, going all out with decorations that depict all manner of scary scenes is never enough. You can see them during the day but they lack a certain, "fright factor" because, well, frankensteinly, they are meant to be seen after dark.
West Seattle Herald Photographer David Rosen took a trip around West Seattle to capture just a few of their displays that are out there and worth seeing during this haunting season.

Eric Christianson has been decorating his yard in the 3200 block of 45th SW for the past fifteen years with ghouls, goblins, gravestones and a lot more. He and his mom Crystal (who can be seen wearing a witches hat (even with her regular clothes) both really enjoy seeing the kids come to the door on Halloween, getting between 100 and 200 kids every year. "I do a little bit more decorating every year." He spends a couple of days to get it all set up. "I'm not as elaborate as some people he said, " and he makes a lot of it himself but still has spent close to $500.
It's a dark and dreary scene near 39th and Holden where the family has in years past had even more elaborate displays and haunted houses. Here, gravestones are a big item and the whole yard is pretty elaborate.
Another spooky decorated house belongs to the Anderson family, located in the 3200 block of SW Hanford Street off of 38th Ave SW. Skulls, spiders, and gravestones are quite the scene to see.
