Jonny Boston's cheesesteaks which opened last year in the West Seattle Alaska Junction, is up for sale at $120,000 due to personal and family health reasons. It will remain open until it is sold according to Dan Atherton, though will close if no sale is made.
UPDATE: Here is official listing
When Dan Atherton opened Jonny Boston's cheeseteaks in 2010 it was the realization of a dream. Now, due to family health reasons he said he must sell it or close it entirely.
Atherton who has operated a dry wall and construction business for the past 18 years (with 30 years in the industry) is not happy about the situation but realizes he must take care of his family first.
Business, while steady, "could always be better" at the restaurant which has come to be something of a landmark just north of the West Seattle Junction at 4151 California Ave. s.w (between Dakota and Genesee Streets). It serves east coast style cheesesteak sandwiches plus hamburgers and sausages, all prepared to order, fresh on site in the compact kitchen. It's not a fancy restaurant, with stools for seating and beverages from a cooler out front, but it's developed a loyal local following. It's gotten generally good reviews on Yelp too.
"I really tried to put the emphasis on quality," said Atherton, "because I've tried some of the others in the area and while some were ok, I just really think ours are better."
The four employees will be let go, possibly within the next two weeks though Atherton said he wants to sell the business and keep it going. "I'd hate to think that what we built would just disappear," he said. He hopes to keep it open until a sale can be made.
The sale of the business is being handled by The Johnson Team at Prudential Northwest Realty. If you know someone looking for a turnkey business with built in customers you can reach them at (206) 510 - 1269.
